Village Café at The Opposite House Presents 2014 Brazilian Food Festival, Gives away World Cup opening ceremony tickets

(Beijing, 9 May, 2014) – Village Café, the all-day dining restaurant at The Opposite House, gets into the World Cup spirit and is delighted to present a Brazilian Food Festival by welcoming two world-famous Brazilian chefs: Elia Schramm, and Gabriel De Carvalho. Guests will be able to taste the chefs’ cooking from 17 to 25 of May. Two lucky diners will also receive entry tickets to watch the World Cup opening ceremony in Brazil.

Both chefs believe food is a social tool and is the biggest link between nature and culture. With that in mind, they will prepare authentic Brazilian dishes, reinterpreted freely. Examples of appetisers featured in the menu are Pastel de Rabada (slowly braised oxtail with red wine, crispy “pastel” watercress and garlic pesto), Bobó de Camarão (braised Brazilian shrimp stew, cooked with coconut milk, cilantro, served with toasted flour), and small deep fried tapioca cubes with traditional Brazilian coalho cheese and tamarind dip.

Mains include the chefs’ own interpretation of the most popular Brazilian Dish; Feijoada (crispy pork belly with brown sugar caramel, black beans purée, orange segment, red chili vinaigrette served with glazed bok choy), Moqueca (pan-fried sea bass served in banana leaf with a hint of coconut milk and ginger sauce, served with whole fried banana, toasted manioc flour and steamed rice), and Pato no Tucupi (pan-fried duck breast with creamy rice and an Amazon-flavoured tucupi and jambu vinaigrette)......
